Job Description




  • Expected pay for this position is $28.00-$44.80. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.

  • Job Summary





    • A licensed practical nurse is responsible with assisting in providing care for multiple types of patients under the supervision of a licensed nurse. 






  • Job Specifications





    • EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: A graduate from a School of Licensed Practical Nursing and currently licensed in the state of Illinois. Required to have a current CPR certification or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire date. Required to have a current CPI certification or ability to obtain within 180 days of hire date.


       



      Current Illinois LPN Licensure OR 



      • For example, Illinois “license pending” requirements would be recognized by The Joint Commission as long as the 4 criteria listed below are met:



        (1) He or she has completed and passed the Department-approved licensure exam and presents to the employer the official written notification indicating successful passage of the licensure examination.

        (2) He or she has completed and submitted to the Department an application for licensure under this Section as a practical nurse.

        (3) He or she has submitted the required licensure fee.

        (4) He or she has met all other requirements established by rule, including having submitted to a criminal history records check.









    • JOB KNOWLEDGE: Is knowledgeable regarding policies and procedures, PPE's, universal precautions, duties during a disaster, and product safety information, all on-line/computer based learning. The patient population must be considered when assessing job knowledge required by the employee. 






    • ABILITIES, INTERESTS AND TEMPERAMENTS:





      • Verbal ability is needed to interpret and understand instructions and to communicate with other caregivers.





      • Numerical ability is needed to correctly tally patient's I & O and ensure correct dosages of medications.





      • Visual acuity is needed to assist and monitor patients.





      • Ability to read and write is needed for documentation on patient records.





      • Ability to adapt and follow directions in a composed manner during emergency situations





      • Empathy and consideration is needed to deal with patients and their family members.





      • Verbal ability is needed to interpret and understand the physician's orders and communicate with other caregivers regarding care of the patient, as well as to present educational information to patients, staff and the public as needed.





      • Clinical perception is needed to monitor the patient and interpret and implement physician’s orders.





      • Finger dexterity is needed for, but not limited to, handling medical equipment, giving IM medications, assembling IV lines and for different physical exams.
