Job Description:  

                                                                                    
Futurewei has multiple openings for AI and Visual Computing Research Intern. Candidates will be responsible for 


•    Conduct Research in one of the areas of multimodal sensing of humans, spatial computing, distributed architect, computer vision, graphic rendering, avatar animation, AI/ML modeling, and other technical areas related to XR and Metaverse.
•    A specific research topic will be identified in the above area and aimed for independent research work that is suitable for academic publication of IEEE journals or/and conferences. 
•    Work closely with other team members, jointly prototype, implement and evaluate algorithms; and optimize application or algorithm performance through analysis, code refactoring, and system tuning.
•    Some industrial and academic collaboration, and professional community involvement.

Requirements:  

                                                                                     
•    Working towards MS & PhD in Computer Science, EE, or related fields
•    Proven experience in academic research and publication
•    Strong knowledge in software development in related fields with hands-on experience 
•    Proficient in at least one of the following programming languages: C/C++, Python
•    Proficient in AI/ML, ideally familiar with some LLMs and image models such as SAM
•    Knowledge and hands-on experience in computer vision, ARVR system, computer graphics, or machine learning algorithms is a strong plus
•    Knowledge and hands-on experience in capturing, processing, training, and testing with multimodal sensor data from RGB and IR camera, LiDAR, IMU, ultrasound, etc. is highly desired
•    Experience in using common ML models is desired, particularly with LLMs, digital human models SMPL, HaMer, and other image and video models.
•    Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills and teamwork abilities
•    Eagerness to learn new technologies
