Dietitian Job Duties
Review all new residents on admission to ensure adequate nutrition is offered to meet nutrition needs.
Review current residents quarterly, annually and as needed.
Review residents for significant weight loss/gain
Assess and review residents for wounds that are caused by pressure, calculate energy needs and make appropriate recommendations to support wound healing and wound prevention.
Attend Clinically at-Risk meetings.
Attend food committee meetings as needed.
Complete section K of the MDS
Write Nutrition Plan of Care and update as needed.
Conduct room visits for observation of the resident and to obtain habits relating to current nutrition practices.
Meet with resident/family as needed to implement appropriate nutrition interventions.
Tour of Dietary Services as needed to observe sanitary conditions.
Dinning Room observations as needed to identify ancillary services that may beneficial to the resident.
Meal tray audits monthly and as needed to ensure foods are being served at appropriate temperatures, foods are palatable and for plate presentation.
RD recommendations for MD approval.
Communicate with Nursing staff as needed for root cause analysis.
