    SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST 

                                                   
     REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL and ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF SUPPORT STAFF

    Qualifications: Meet all standards required by the Illinois State Board of Education for certification.
     

     

    IMPLEMENTATION:

     

    a. Conduct individual diagnostic assessment including intellectual, educational, social/emotional and behavioral functioning.

     

    b. Conduct the triennial case study reevaluations as mandated by state law for all special education students.

     

    c. Provide individual and group counseling to the student population.

     

    d. Provide consultation services to classroom teachers, other school personnel and parents dealing with students’ educational and personal         
        concerns.

     

    e. Complete all necessary written documentation pertaining to the classification, placement and programming of special education students.

     

    f. Obtain parental consent for case study reevaluation.

     

    g. Convene staffings to change special education services received at the request of the administration, teacher or parent.

     

    h. Monitor the provision of special education services provided to both building and more restrictive out of district educational environments.

     

    i. Keep and submit records of services provided for Medicaid reimbursement.

     

    j. Attend annual reviews at feeder elementary schools for the purpose of transitioning special education students to the high school buildings.

     

    k. Conduct evaluations and gather data to determine student eligibility under Section 504.

     

    l. Support the implementation of the MTSS framework at the building level, addressing academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.

     

    INTERACTION WITH STUDENTS

     

    a. Communicates effectively with students and parents.

     

    b. Assist as a member of the crisis management team.

     

    c. Serve as a member of the student support team.

     

    d. Act as a liaison between the school and outside agencies, i.e., hospitals, therapists, etc.

    a. Communicates and works with appropriate support personnel.

    a. Attend and participate in scheduled staff development meetings.

     

    b. Participate in department meetings and professional projects as directed by the Ast. Director of Support Staff.

     

    c. Adheres to school regulations and board policies.

     

    d. Responds appropriately to concerns initiated by parents/guardians.

     

    e. Completes duties effectively and promptly.

     

    f. Maintains regular attendance and is punctual.

     

    g. Follows the Teachers’ Handbook and District Policy Manual as required measurements of expectations and requirements.

     

    h. Is required to attain continuing professional development units (CPDUs) as mandated by the State of Illinois.
