MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assist in the performance of maintenance and repair activities under the supervision of the Motor Vehicle Mechanic;

• Follow a checklist of inspection procedures;

• Read and interpret diagnostic test results;

• Raise trucks, buses and heavy parts or equipment by using hydraulic jacks or hoists;

• Perform routine maintenance on vehicles and/or equipment;

• Assist with inspections as directed by the Motor Vehicle Mechanic;

• Repair or replace malfunctioning components, parts or equipment;

• Dismount and Mount tires

   

Other Collateral Duties:  Perform other duties as directed by the Workleader or Vehicle Fleet Manager

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent is mandatory.

   

  Experience/Knowledge/Skills:

• Must possess a valid Ohio State driver’s license,

• Must be able to obtain a security clearance for military base access,

• 3-6 months general vehicle repair and maintenance experience preferred,

• Mechanical aptitude accepted in place of experience,

• Basic knowledge of the standard practices in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles,

• Basic knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles
