Position Summary

The Delegating Nurse (RN) is responsible for overseeing clinical compliance and ensuring high-quality care for residents in accordance with Maryland regulations. This role partners closely with the Executive Director and Health & Wellness leadership to support resident care, staff education, and regulatory adherence.

What You Will Do

  • Ensure clinical compliance in accordance with Maryland state regulations and community policies
  • Perform pre-admission, admission, and re-admission assessments, including development of initial service plans
  • Complete required resident assessments (initial, 45-day, quarterly, and post-hospitalization)
  • Oversee and conduct competency evaluations and ongoing training for medication administration and caregiving staff
  • Evaluate residents’ ability to safely self-administer medications on a quarterly basis
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director, Director of Health & Wellness, residents, and families to develop and update care plans
  • Provide clinical oversight and ensure compliance with Delegating Nurse requirements in Maryland
  • Participate in community meetings including daily stand-ups, at-risk meetings, and quality assurance reviews
  • Conduct audits (including medication cart audits) and address compliance concerns
  • Monitor resident care and ensure appropriate levels of service are provided through regular assessments and observation
  • Communicate with physicians, regulatory agencies, and families when care concerns arise
  • Support a culture of compassion, respect, and teamwork across the community

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • Delegating Nurse (DN) certification in the State of Maryland required
  • 2–5 years of experience in a clinical or wellness nursing role preferred
  • Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR)
  • Strong knowledge of Maryland assisted living regulations
  • Ability to assess, develop, and adjust individualized care plans
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills with a collaborative approach

Work Environment & Expectations

  • On-call responsibilities required
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
  • Frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs)
  • Exposure to healthcare environments and infectious conditions
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and teamwork at all times
