Description

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Letdown person in a fast-paced coatings manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for safely and accurately producing water-based and solvent-based coatings by following batch ticket instructions, adding raw materials, processing batches, and completing final product preparation activities.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, able to work independently, and committed to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and housekeeping.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follow batch ticket instructions to safely and accurately add raw materials and process production batches
  • Manufacture water-based and solvent-based coatings according to established procedures and quality standards
  • Stabilize and complete batches for downstream production and packaging
  • Process products that may originate from upstream dispersions or from straight letdowns commonly used in wood finish production
  • Perform put-ups and assist with product transfer and packaging activities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with company housekeeping standards
  • Independently perform assigned job functions while meeting production expectations
  • Accurately document production information and communicate issues to supervision as needed
  • Support continuous improvement and teamwork initiatives within the production department

Safety Responsibilities

Safety is a core expectation of this role. Employees are required to:

  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and work instructions at all times
  • Properly handle chemicals and raw materials used in coatings manufacturing
  • Safely work with both water-based and solvent-based materials, including flammable and combustible substances
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, gloves, eye protection, hearing protection, and protective clothing as required
  • Understand and comply with hazard communication (HAZCOM) requirements and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) guidelines
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, spills, incidents, or equipment concerns
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to minimize slip, trip, fire, and chemical exposure hazards
  • Safely operate production equipment, pumps, mixers, and material handling devices

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or industrial experience preferred, ideally in chemical, paint, coatings, or related industries
  • Ability to read and follow written batch instructions and production documentation
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic math and problem-solving skills
  • Forklift experience is a plus

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout the shift
  • Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds with or without assistance
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to chemicals, odors, noise, and varying temperatures
  • Must be able to wear required PPE and respiratory protection as needed
