Job DescriptionrnExceptional Care for Children (ECC) has an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and growing healthcare team as a Respiratory Therapist. We are seeking candidates available for full time employment, as we are expanding our respiratory care department related to increased census. Typical shifts are 12 hours, and we have an opening for 6p-6a nightshift. rnECC is a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization committed to providing the highest quality of care and services to pediatric patients requiring transitional, long term, and/or palliative care. We are an around-the-clock residential facility that provides skilled care to medically fragile children, birth to age 21, who have a technology dependency.rnECC simply exists to provide a vulnerable population with as normal of a childhood experience as possible. For more information, please visit www.exceptionalcare.org or view our video channel at www.ec4children.orgrnResponsibilities and DutiesrnrnProvides care and advocacy to residents requiring respiratory expertise, and completes respiratory assessment of residents each shift.rnParticipates in the care planning process.rnAssists with policy and procedure development and continuous quality improvement measures.rnResponsible for periodically covering school sessions, medical transports, and play therapy.rnDelivers periodic interdisciplinary in-service education to team members and responsible parties including mock codes and trach changes.rnConducts parent/responsible party training and assess needs and deficits of the training parties under the direction of Director of Respiratory Services.rnAssists with routine respiratory care including equipment maintenance. Assists Clinical Nurses with respiratory treatments, troubleshooting equipment, etc.rnProvides daily interaction, including but not limited to frequent conversation, play and holding/cuddling of residents to provide daily stimulation.rnCommittee participation including Admissions, Field Trip, and Education Committees.rnrnQualifications and SkillsrnrnEducation and experience sufficient to meet position requirements; Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); active and valid license in State of Delaware (or ability to seek) required.rnProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and accessing electronic medical records.rnExhibits positive communication techniques and skills and has ability to make oral presentations.rnPossess special interest in working with pediatric long term care residents and children with special needs.rnAbility to speak, read, and write English and to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, vendors and other staff members.rnPersonifies Exceptional Care for Children's core values of Service, Helpfulness, Excellence, Leadership, Dedication, Outstanding Conduct and Integrity, and Nurturing.rnrnBenefitsrnWe are proud to retain the finest employees of the highest caliber.
