Job Title: Disbursement Specialist – Fixed Annuities
Onsite, Location: League City, Texas – Marina One
Status: Full-Time, Hourly
Reports to: Senior Manager, Production
The Disbursement Specialist is responsible for reviewing and processing outgoing disbursements for annuity contracts, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, risk awareness, and timely completion. You will review distribution request forms received digitally, by email, and by mail; enter and validate data in multiple systems; and partner with internal teams to ensure funds are released correctly and on schedule.
What you’ll do
- Review and analyze distribution request forms and supporting documentation to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Process high-volume disbursement transactions including full/partial surrenders, systematic withdrawals, outgoing 1035 exchanges, and fixed or interest-only distributions
- Enter and validate data in administrative systems; resolve exceptions such as mismatched policy or banking information
- Screen disbursement requests for fraud prevention and escalate risk concerns appropriately
- Apply an understanding of tax codes and distribution rules to support proper tax reporting (e.g., withholding requirements, IRA/qualified plan distributions, transfers vs rollovers)
- Communicate with representatives, policy owners, and internal departments via email and by phone to resolve issues and meet service level agreements
- Manage work across multiple shared inboxes and workflow queues while maintaining strong attention to detail
Qualifications
- Two years + of relevant work experience in a transaction-driven, detail oriented, and deadline focused work environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality—accuracy is critical
- Ability to learn new systems quickly and follow established procedures while handling changing priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a service mindset
- Self-motivated critical thinker who can research discrepancies and drive issues to resolution
What sets you apart
- Work experience in any of the following fields: Insurance, banking, finance (2–3 years preferred)
- Working knowledge of basic accounting functions and/or bank procedures
- Experience processing disbursements, withdrawals, transfers, or other regulated financial transactions
