Holt Public Schools is located in the Lansing metropolitan region. It is primarily located in Ingham County with portions in Eaton County. We provide educational programs from Early Childhood through and beyond 12th grade including access to Early College programming and Career and Technical Education. Our current enrollment totals approximately 4,650 students. Our student body is approximately 47% persons of color with significant ethnic diversity and representation from historically marginalized groups. REQUIRED CERTIFICATION:
• Valid Michigan Secondary Teaching Certificate, with endorsement in Health (MA) as defined by the Michigan
Department of Education.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, teachers and administrators.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other professionals with a desire to improve educational practices.
• Interest and willingness to integrate students with learning disabilities into physical education classes.
• A strong history of professional growth efforts or an expressed philosophy which defines the necessity for a
professional teacher to grow and learn throughout a career.
• Ability to ensure the safety of all students and school property during physical education classes.
• Familiar with the goals and objectives for health and physical education embedded in the Michigan Content
Standards and Benchmarks.
• Experience with competency-based, standards-based, or learning-objective focused curriculum.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and basic subject matter specified in state law, administrative regulations, and
procedures of the school district.
• Works cooperatively with other teachers in planning a balanced program.
• Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each pupil,
to the extent feasible.
• Maintains control of storage and use of school owned property.
• Establishes and maintains standards of pupil behavior needed to provide an orderly, productive learning
environment.
• Evaluates each pupil’s growth in appropriate skills and content knowledge

• Maintains professional competence through in-service education provided by the district, and/or in self-selected
professional growth activities.
• Communicates with parents and school counselors on pupil progress.
• Identifies pupil needs and participates with other professional staff members in assisting pupils to solve health,
attitude and learning problems.
• Cooperates with school administration in providing specialty performing groups for special occasions, PTA
meetings, assemblies and interscholastic athletic events.
• Participates in curriculum and other developmental programs.
• Assists on faculty committees and sponsors student activities.
• Maintains a record of pupil attendance and performance.
• Regular, reliable and punctual attendance is required.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and work year per Teacher Master Agreement between the Holt Education Association and the Board of
Education.
