    Position summary:  The Licensed Special Education Teacher develops and provides specialized instruction to meet the unique needs of students with disabilities; evaluates and assesses student progress against instructional objectives; and functions as IEP Manager to assigned students.     
     
    Specific Responsibilities:
     
    A.   Ensure a safe learning environment for all students
     
    B.   Provides, develops and delivers specialized instruction to student incorporating the essential elements of instruction.
     
    C.   Identifies and prioritizes areas of the general education curriculum & accommodations for students needing specialized instruction.  
     
    D.   Plans and develops instruction and assessment in alignment with approved curriculum and district priorities.   
     
    E.    Establishes and maintains management in the classroom, school premises or during school activities by communicating expectations.  
     
    F.    Collaborates with educational professionals, administration, and parents regarding the needs of students, instructional needs, new instructional technology or approaches to student progress, learning or curriculum.  
     
    G.   Seeks and implements professional development.
     
    H.    Follows due process requirements
     
    I.     Other duties as assigned.
