Job Title: Hourly Music Adjunct 


 


Job Type: Hourly, Contract


 


Job Summary: The Hourly Music Adjunct will be responsible for teaching group or single lessons for an instrument approximately once a week to students in the Fayetteville band program. The adjunct will work collaboratively with the band director and provide instruction that complements the school’s music curriculum.


 


Duties and Responsibilities:


 



  • Teach group and individual music lessons for an instrument approximately once a week to students in the Fayetteville band program.

  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials that align with the school’s music curriculum.

  • Provide feedback and constructive criticism to students to help them improve their musical abilities.

  • Assess students’ progress and provide regular progress reports to the band director.

  • Foster a positive learning environment that encourages students to develop a love of music.

  • Collaborate with the band director to identify areas where individual students or the group as a whole need additional instruction or support.

  • Communicate regularly with the band director regarding students’ progress and any concerns.

  • Attend occasional after-school or evening events, such as concerts or recitals, to support students and the school’s music program.

  • Maintain a safe and orderly environment that is conducive to learning.


 


Qualifications:


 



  • Bachelor's degree in music education or a related field or is currently pursuing said degree.

  • Experience teaching music lessons to middle, junior high, or high school students.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in playing the instrument being taught.

  • Knowledge of music theory, ear training, and music history.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to motivate and inspire students to learn and appreciate music.

  • Flexibility to adapt instruction to meet the needs of individual students.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with other teachers and school administrators.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.


 


Working Conditions:


 


The Hourly Music Adjunct will work primarily in a classroom or rehearsal space within the school. The position is part-time and involves teaching approximately one lesson per week, typically lasting between 45 and 60 minutes. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required to attend concerts or recitals.
