    The Orting School District is seeking applicants for the position of Assistant Boys' Basketball Coach (Non-continuing) at Orting Middle School. Orting Middle School, a member of the Plateau League, is committed to providing excellence in all of its extra-curricular programs. The head coach oversees and runs the entire middle school wrestling sports program.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

     
    1. Experience in coaching/participating in basketball
    2. Knowledge of basketball techniques and strategies
    3. Be able to meet all W.I.A.A. requirements for the Washington State Coaching Standards
    4. Ability to communicate positively and effectively with students, parents, staff and community members
    5. Effective written and oral communication skills
    6. Strong organizational skills necessary to run a solid middle school program 
    7. Successful experience working with teenage athletes
    8. Ability to motivate teens to reach their highest potential academically through sportsmanship
    9. Experience preferred

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    1. Be high school graduate or have completed a graduation equivalency diploma (GED) program
    2. Be at least 19 years of age to be an assistant coach
    3. Current first aid and CPR training
    4. Flexible Schedule
    5. Must be available immediately after school - 2:25 pm

    For coaching positions, eligibility for benefits is determined by a number of factors, including the number of hours an employee worked during the last two (2) school years (September 1 through August 31). Coaching positions may not be benefit eligible. Benefits are administered through the Payroll Department. Additional information is available on their district webpage.     Regular employees who are also in coaching position(s) and are anticipated to work 630 hours or more in a year are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, retirement, life insurance, long-term disability and the employee assistance program.
     
    The district's healthcare benefits are administered by the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) under the School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB). Benefit eligible employees also qualify to optionally participate in deferred compensation/403B plans, dependent care flexible spending/health savings accounts, and additional life insurance and/or added long-term disability coverage through employee contributions.  Sick leave, vacation, personal leave, and any paid holidays are aligned with bargaining agreements by association, as listed on our website.
     
    Other benefits include VEBA, which is a Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) and serves as a way to contribute dollars on a pre-tax basis for out of pocket benefits costs, whether it be for medical, dental or vision premiums, or any other out of pocket medical expenses. This benefit is available, based on the outcome of annual voting of employees by group.
