Job Description
Benjamin Franklin Charter School is looking for K-6th Grade Teachers to join our Elementary Team for the 2026-2027 school year.
Responsibilities
- While under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Teacher will plan, organize, and implement the school’s instructional program in a learning environment that motivates and guides students to develop and fulfill their academic potential.

- Promote and adhere to BFCS policies and procedures.
- Provide a safe, structured environment focused on academic excellence.
- Create a learning environment that is engaging and conducive to effective instruction; maintain standards of student behavior.
- Provide direct instruction using a Back-to-Basics curriculum including Spalding (Spelling, Reading and Writing), Excellence in Writing, Into Math, and Studies Weekly Science and Social Studies.
- Prepare and follow lesson plans correlated with the prescribed curriculum and pacing guides.
- Communicate learning objectives to students in a well-planned, organized manner using clear and precise language.
- Monitor and assess student progress; provide ongoing feedback to students and parents.
- Use classroom and state assessment data to inform and improve instruction.
- Participate in team reviews concerning students’ academic progress.
- Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with students, parents, and other professionals on a regular basis to discuss students’ progress and interpret the instructional program.
- Maintain accurate, complete, and legible records as required by law and school policy.
- Reflect on teaching practices and strive to improve professional competence.
- Assume responsibility for meeting classroom and school-wide student performance goals.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Participate in curriculum development programs as required.
- Participate in school-wide events, scheduled meetings, and parent conferences.
- Meet any additional specific job requirements as indicated by the school site or District
