Job Summary
DEFINITION:
Serves under the governing board and the Superintendent as the chief executive officer of a junior high school or middle school with total responsibility to provide leadership for the instructional program. Manages all affairs of the school within District policy and procedures and supervises all certificated and classified staff assigned to the school.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provides leadership for an instructional program in which all students are successful learners, and monitors and evaluates the program's effectiveness.
Establishes and maintains a positive and effective learning climate in the schoo1.
Provides leadership for staff in assessing school needs and determining objectives which serve as the basis for developing short- and long-range plans for the school.
Provides leadership for staff in implementing District/school approved curriculum and monitors and evaluates its effectiveness.
Establishes an effective school administrative organization with clear lines of responsibility and appropriate authority.
Supervises and evaluates the performance of all assigned personnel.
Develops school plans and organizational procedures for the health, safety, conduct, and discipline of students, as established in District procedures.
Plans and assigns responsibility to coordinate the on-site pupil services program which includes guidance, counseling, health services and testing.
Plans, supervises, and directs the business operation of the school, including management of all assigned district, special funded budgets,
Carries out a program of community relations as a means of interpreting and furthering the school program through school and community organizations.
Directs the assignment of all pupils in such a way as to encourage their optimum growth
Develops and maintains active relationships with students and parents and creates an atmosphere which encourages parents' active involvement in their students' education.

- California Administrative Services Credential
- Master’s Degree
- Successful administration/leadership experience
- Middle School experience preferred
- Assistant Principal experience preferred
