    Position Summary:
    Provide instruction in reading, literacy, and English Language Arts aligned with Kansas College and Career Ready Standards (KCCRS). The teacher supports student growth in reading comprehension, vocabulary development, writing, and critical thinking through a structured and engaging curriculum. This position fosters a positive classroom environment that promotes student success, collaboration, and love of reading. 

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
    • Plan, prepare, and deliver reading and literary instruction aligned to KCCRS for English Language Arts.
    • Assess student reading levels using district-approved assessments and adjust instruction to meet diverse learning needs. 
    • Provide targeted interventions for struggling readers and enrichment opportunities for advanced learners. 
    • Integrate reading strategies into writing, speaking, and listening activities. 
    • Maintain accurate and timely records of student progress, grades, and attendance.
    • Provide ongoing feedback to students and families regarding academic performance and growth. 
    • Use data to drive instructional decisions and participate in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) processes are required. 
    • Create and maintain a classroom environment that is safe, inclusive, structured, and conducive to learning. 
    • Implement direct curriculum, pacing guides, and instructional materials with fidelity. 
    • Collaborate with grade-level teams, reading specialists, and support staff to align instruction using district-approved platforms and tools.
    • Assist in maintaining a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. 
    • Assist with implementing accommodations and modifications as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
    • Participate in professional development, staff meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and school-wide initiatives as required. 
    • Uphold district policies, Kansas Department of Education (KSDE) regulations, and the educator's code of conduct. 
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by the school Principal. 

    Qualifications & Skills:
    • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
    • Valid Kansas Teaching License with an approved Elementary Education or Middle School ELA endorsement, or eligibility for such licensure. 
    • Demonstrating knowledge of reading/literacy instruction and child development. 
    • Successful completion of required background check and employment screenings.
