JOB DESCRIPTION


JOB TITLE: PORTER

FLSA: NON-EXEMPT

DEPARTMENT: FACILITIES

LOCATION: BRONX, NY

SALARY: $29.78 PER HOUR

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF FACILITIES


SUMMARY: Perform all custodial related duties to maintain a safe and clean facility, including interior and exterior grounds. Reports to the Director of Facilities

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and common spaces.

  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.

  • Prepare vacant units for re-occupancy as scheduled in partnership with the building Superintendent.

  • Respond promptly to cleaning or maintenance requests from staff, tenants, or management.

  • Support maintenance staff with basic tasks such as replacing light bulbs, restocking supplies, etc. as needed.

  • Ensure exterior areas- including walkways, entrances, and parking areas- remain clean, safe, and free of debris.

  • Ensure garbage and recycling areas are clean, organized, and compliant with building guidelines.

  • Assist building Superintendent with room turnovers.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma or GED required. Previous experience or work history with the ability and desire to learn building custodial services. Must communicate appropriately with peers and management and to exhibit patience and understanding towards client population being served.
