About the Department

Marana is one of the fastest-growing communities in Southern Arizona, located approximately 20 minutes northwest of downtown Tucson and 75 minutes southeast of Phoenix. Position Duties

The Town of Marana is seeking a Maintenance Associate I to work in the Streets Division of the Public Works Department. This is a full-time position and an exciting opportunity for someone interested in working in a fast-paced environment. The Public Works Department provides services that are vital to our community’s health, safety and comfort.
 
Normal Work Hours: 6:00 – 4:30 4 days a week with mandatory rotating on-call

Expected Hiring Range:  $17.87/hour – $21.89/hour

  • placement within the salary range is dependent on direct experience, internal equity and/or budget

Salary Range: $17.87/hour – $25.91/hour

Minimum Qualifications

  • Transports equipment; sets up traffic control devices.
  • Operates gannon, backhoe, kick broom, and steal/rubber rollers.
  • Operates dump truck to haul materials.
  • Sweeps and maintains right of way roads by operating street sweeper.
  • Schedules equipment repairs.
  • Removes and replaces concrete by operating light equipment; cutting and breaking out damaged concrete; setting forms and pre-subgrade area; mixing concrete; pouring and finishing concrete.
  • Removes and replaces asphalt; cuts asphalt; prepares and compacting subgrade, installs. new asphalt, crack seals roads, hot crack sealant, and spreads and levels sealant.
  • Inspects and maintains equipment, blue staking.

Other Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Six (6) months of street construction/maintenance experience or closely related field.
  • Valid Arizona Driver License. 
  • Must complete a pre-employment physical including an audiogram and pass a 50-pound lift test.
  • Must complete both the Town of Marana background check and a motor vehicle records check.

An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience that provides the desired knowledge, skills & abilities to successfully perform essential functions may be considered.
