Position Overview
Cherished Hearts Private Home Care is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP)/Special Education Teacher Assistant to provide structured, person-centered support within our Community Access Group Day program. 
We are looking for an energetic and experienced to join our team! Your goal is to recognize their special development needs and set them up for long-term success. The ideal candidate is compassionate, creative, and dedicated to helping students reach their potential.

This role focuses on assisting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in building independence, communication skills, social engagement, and daily living abilities through structured activities and community integration.

Responsibilities: 
  • Provide direct care and supervision to individuals in a day program setting
  • Implement person centered goals outlined in Individual Service Plans (ISPs)
  • Lead and assist with daily group activities (life skills, social skills, communication, recreation)
  • Support individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) as needed (toileting, hygiene, eating, etc.)
  • Use positive guidance and redirection techniques to support behavior

Qualifications
  • Minimum:  High School Diploma or GED
  • Deep understanding of autism spectrum disorder and other related disorders
  • Strong understanding of special needs development principles and best practices in education and classroom management
  • Knowledge of classroom health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and ability to closely adhere to the guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to pass background checks 
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift, assist, and support individuals physical if needed
  • Strong patience, communication, and teamwork skills

Monday - Friday
  • 7:30 am - 3:30 pm
  • 8:00 am - 4:00 pm
  • 9:00 am - 2:00 pm
