Position Summary

The Apprentice – Construction – IN Region is an entry-level role designed for individuals seeking to learn and grow within the construction trades under the guidance of experienced Foremen, Journeymen, and Superintendents. Apprentices assist with plumbing, piping, and general construction tasks while gaining exposure to multiple trades. This hands-on role emphasizes learning technical skills, safety practices, and industry standards necessary for long-term success in the construction industry.

 

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist Journeymen and Foremen with diagnosing issues and performing construction and plumbing-related tasks
  • Install, assemble, maintain, and repair piping, plumbing systems, and fixtures under supervision
  • Locate and assist in repairing water line leaks, clearing clogs, and testing system functionality
  • Assist with installation and repair of appliances and fixtures such as water heaters, toilets, sinks, and related equipment
  • Learn to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to support installation and repair work
  • Follow direction on job sites and support more complex assignments as a helper
  • Learn and apply applicable state laws, regulations, and local building codes
  • Perform assigned duties related to plumbing, electrical, mechanical, and general construction tasks as directed
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a safe, clean, and organized condition
  • Follow and promote GEMCO’s safety policies, procedures, and professional standards at all times
