Job Overview:



 

































Receive training in a variety of pharmacy practice settings to meet the educational outcomes & goals set by the American Society of Hospital Pharmacists (ASHP). To develop competence, skills, & application of drug therapy knowledge in providing the broad scope of pharmaceutical services needed in a practice setting. The Resident provides clinical drug information, and distributive services to patients and other health care providers.



 




 
 
 


Qualification




  • Graduate of an accredited school or college of pharmacy and/or is a currently practicing pharmacist

  • Hospital pharmacy experience preferred

  • Must have current New Jersey pharmacist intern license

  • Must meet New Jersey license requirements prior to entering program

    Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Must participate in & adhere to the rules of the Resident Matching Program (RMP) process

    Above average communication skills and the ability to relate effectively to the public and health care professionals.



Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):



 




  • Full-Time

  • Day



 



Essential Functions:














  • Train in the required pharmacy practice settings for a specified number of weeks as set by the program to meet the core objectives of the program.




  • Elect training in other pharmacy practice settings as offered by the program.















  • Complete 12 months of training program to meet the program goals as well as the educational outcomes set by ASHP/AMCP prior to receiving certificate of completion.




  • Develop & implement a longitudinal residency project under the guidance of residency director, coordinator, preceptors, or project advisors.















  • Attend professional & educational meetings/conferences.




  • Complete additional projects & activities as required.












  • Perform distributive Pharmacy duties in the Main Pharmacy. This includes weekend rotations and identified holidays. (Monitors and assesses patient medication orders for dosage, frequency, drug interaction, duplication, contraindications and appropriateness based on renal function and other pertinent data; Provides drug information as necessary; Dispenses medications with consistent accuracy and in accordance with State and Federal laws; Fills orders for medications accurately and in a timely manner; Maintains and completes all necessary documentation; Handles and maintains controlled substances in accordance with policies, state and federal laws and regulations.)
