Job Description

Summary of Position/Objective

The Transportation Director  is responsible for day to day operations of To The Rescue Transportation Division. The Transportation Director is responsible to lead the division to meet business goals.  The Transportation Director is responsible for maintaining the entire fleet of vehicles, promoting safety and ensuring operational excellence.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the execution of the business plan through collaboration with key internal stakeholders to support the growth and development of the organization.

  • In conjunction with the Executive Director reviews and aligns policies, procedures, and processes for the department. 

  • Responsible for staff training and development and ensures all required employee training is completed in a timely manner.Hire, counsel, and review the performance of all transportation department employees. Ensure all drivers are properly trained to do all aspects of their jobs. Maintain close communication on staffing needs and any HR issues with the HR Department.

  • Provides guidance and recommendations for the fleet.  Ensure regular maintenance, as well as necessary repairs, are performed on all company vehicles.

  • Oversee safety program for operations of organization vehicles.  

  • Acts as the risk management liaison providing timely feedback and mitigation. 

  • Spearheads employee retention and supports employee acquisition. 

  • Supports employee development, evaluations, coaching, and counseling in a timely manner.

  • Develops relationships with area service providers, businesses, organizations and individuals who will enrich the mission of To The Rescue.

  • Ensures compliance with regulator and billing standards.

  • Creates Key Action Plans to meet all business objectives.


Competencies/Qualifications/Education

  • Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.

  • Have knowledge of auditing and monitoring procedures.

  • Have working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations affecting Colorado

  • Have working knowledge of privacy laws and regulations.

  • Must possess strong leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills

  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with staff and provide instruction and direction to employees on maintaining compliance with policies, rules and procedures.

  • Proficient with Google applications and the ability to learn computer platforms for scheduling and timekeeping.

  • Ability to respond well under pressure.

  • Ability to perform simple repairs to vehicles, replacing light bulbs, tightening screws, etc. is helpful

  • Must be able to drive a (non-CDL) 15 passenger van/bus


Certificates/Licenses/Registration

The employee shall possess a valid driver’s license and must be eligible for the agency’s vehicle insurance and provide proof of private vehicle coverage. 


Supervisory Responsibility

  • Ability to supervise, direct and communicate with employees who are on and off site

  • Provide consistent feedback to drivers


Work Hours

Hours will vary depending on the needs of the organization. This may include, but is not limited to days, nights, weekends, and holidays. This position requires hours that exceed a typical 8-hour work day as needed. This position has an on call requirement.


Work Environment

The work environment is consistent with similar office environment settings and driving in all weather

conditions.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to hear and speak. The employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.


Travel

Frequent travel within a 25-mile radius is expected for this position. Occasionally travel beyond a 25-mile radius may be required, including out of state travel.
