About the Department

PRIMARY DUTY: The PRN Staff Nurse will work in the absence of University Wellness Services’ nursing staff on an as-needed basis and will perform the essential duties and functions of an RN or LPN.  The PRN staff nurse will provide direct patient care and health education to university students and will perform other duties as assigned.

Position Duties

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Provides direct patient care through assessment.
  2. Provides health education for patients
  3. Maintains and supports all clinic operations
  4. Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Graduate of an accredited RN or LPN nursing program.
Certification/License: Licensed to practice as a RN or LPN in Missouri.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to function autonomously as a self-starter in a fast-paced environment; commitment to excellence in all aspects of care delivery.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
Experience: Outpatient clinic experience; college health and health education 
Skills: Ability to work with minimal supervision, experience with electronic medical records.

EQUIPMENT/MATERIALS USED: Computer, electronic medical record system, nebulizer, spirometry, tympanogram, oximeter, phone, copier and fax machine.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Air conditioned, modern outpatient medical facility.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires ability to move quickly, tolerate long periods of standing, potential exposure to infectious diseases, and lifting to 50 pounds.
