Summary
Compiles and maintains material and parts inventory and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas. Coordinates production scheduling activities with multiple departments to ensure efficient workflow and on-time delivery to customers. Also, will work where needed in the Assembly department.
Core Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Material Expeditor II
1. Reads production schedules, inventory reports, and work orders to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority.
2. Confers with department supervisors to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors of material status.
3. Locates and distributes materials to specified production areas.
4. Records and maintains perpetual inventory of quantity and type of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed.
5. Compiles and maintains records such as material inventory records, production records, and timecards.
6. Examines material received, verifies part numbers, and checks discrepancies such as damaged or unmarked parts.
7. Compares work ticket specifications to material used at workstations to verify appropriate assignment.
8. Performs duties of Shipper and Receiver.
Scheduler
9. Works with Production Planner to coordinate activities and align production priorities.
10. Reviews open sales orders to determine customer requirements and schedules to meet customer due dates.
11. Coordinates with Purchasing on delivery of materials and parts to expedite flow of material to meet production schedule.
12. Identifies any parts needed from Purchasing, the Great Bend facility, Lyons facility, and Weld Department at least 72 hours ahead of need and communicates that need to facility operators.
13. Utilizes ERP system to manually and auto-generate manufacturing work orders.
14. Releases manufacturing work orders to Shipping for kit picking.
15. Creates and releases work orders for Production including Schedule Masters.
16. Coordinates between Inventory and Purchasing on material shortages.
17. Acts as a liaison between Production Scheduling, Inventory, Purchasing, and Supervisors.
18. Notifies Sales of any schedule impacts to customers.
19. Coordinates/expedites manufacturing builds to ensure schedules are achieved.
20. Completes status reports, such as production progress, customer information, and materials inventory.
21. Coordinates Production Flow and promptly addresses and resolves production issues.
22. Distributes work orders to departments, denoting number, type, and proposed completion date of units to be produced.
23. Creates, tracks, and maintains work orders for Maintenance.
24. Creates schedule master’s in Excel for work orders.
Assembly Duties
- Gathers parts required to be painted.
- Inspects parts for paint quality and removes from paint line conveyor.
- Assembles and boxes mount kits and subassemblies.
- Assembles main products, using hand tools and overhead hoists.
- Test or assist in testing operation of completed product.
- Crates products.
- Other duties as assigned.
