    JOB DESCRIPTION – Substitute: Campus Safety Monitor

                        

    TITLE: Campus Safety Monitor Substitute                                                                                        

     

    FLSA STATUS: Non Exempt                             HOURS PER DAY: 8                          

     

    WORK CALENDAR: August - May                     

     

    COMPENSATION: $145 daily substitute rate

     

    LOCATION: Districtwide

     

    JOB TYPE: Assignments are on an as-needed basis

                         

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Ensures the safest educational facility for students and staff possible, and protects school owned property from vandalism or loss.  The security monitor reports disorders, irregularities, or infractions of school policies, rules, and regulations of student activity on school campuses.

    2. Monitors unauthorized persons for questioning, routes, or detains them and/or calls administration/police for assistance according to emergency action plan.

    3. Patrols campus for potential dangers such as fires, prowlers, vandals, or other unusual occurrences.

    4. Maintains accessibility to students and others in emergencies.

    5. Assists in the enforcement of school/district rules and regulations, and follows procedures in the security manual.

    6. Monitors rest rooms, bus loading areas, locker bays, and other assigned areas.

    7. Transports students as directed to/from the Health Center and Discipline office.

    8. Maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, staff, parents and school issues

    9. Provide a welcoming atmosphere for students, staff, parents and community

    10. Perform responsibilities in an ethical and professional manner 

    11. Maintain punctual and regular attendance

    12. Perform other related duties as assigned

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

     

    To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The qualifications for this job description are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

    Education / Certificate

     

    1. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalency.

     

    2. Must possess some knowledge or training in security procedures and practices.

     

    3. Must possess a valid Arizona driver license.

     

    4. Must have and maintain a valid IVP Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

     

    Experience

     

    1. Must possess a high degree of maturity and exercise good judgment.

     

    2. Must have the ability to develop positive interpersonal relationships with high school students.

     

    3. Must possess the ability to work cooperatively with parents, students, administrators, faculty, staff and general public.

     

    4. Must be 21 years of age or older upon hire      

     

    Communication Skills

     
    1. Bi-literate/bilingual in Spanish and English is beneficial.

     

    Computer Skills

     

    1. Must possess knowledge of standard office machines, including computers.
