Job Description

PRN - Shifts Vary 

Starting Pay- $37.14 - $46.42 (Based on Experience)

Qualifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of respiratory therapy
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Registered by the State of Minnesota (CRT)
  • Two years of critical care experience preferred

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides care at the hospital to patients with respiratory care needs including those receiving advanced therapeutic care, which include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Ventilator
  • Bipap/Cpap
  • Incentive spirometry
  • Aerosol/MDI treatments
  • NT suctioning
  • High velocity nasal canula
  • Nasal canula
  • ET suctioning
  • CPT/PEP therapy
  • BiWaze
  • Monitors patient’s physiological response to therapy such as vital signs, arterial, and venous blood gases. Consults with clinician if adverse reactions occur.
  • Works as a team in a multidisciplinary environment to provide care and provide recommendations for appropriate therapy.
  • Assists with monitoring end tidal CO2 and SPO2 of patients.
  • Educates patients and families on respiratory disease management.
  • Works with patients and families to set up home oxygen therapy.
  • Actively participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Responds to rapid response and codes called within the hospital with appropriate equipment.
  • Monitors respiratory supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Reviews EHR for accurate charging of respiratory related supplies, equipment, and oxygen use.
  • Makes rounds within the hospital departments to assess patient respiratory care needs and communicates with charge nurses and house supervisors as needed.
  • Assesses respiratory equipment and supplies .
  • Assists in the development, implementation, and review of respiratory policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Monitors EHR for accurate charging of respiratory related supplies, equipment, and oxygen use.
  • Other duties as assigned.

On Call Responsibilities

  • Your response time will be less than one hour, sooner if possible.
  • There is a two-hour minimum paid time for being called in.
  • Provide coverage for three shifts per month.
  • Provide at least one weekend shift every month.
  • Provide coverage for one holiday shift per year.
