Summary
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated educator to join our team as an Early Literacy Coach at Eaton Rapids Public Schools. This full-time position is designed for an individual who is committed to fostering a love of reading and writing in young learners. The Early Literacy Coach will collaborate with teachers, staff, and administrators to develop and implement effective literacy instruction strategies that enhance student learning outcomes and promote a culture of literacy throughout the school district.

POSITION: Teacher - Early Literacy Coach
BUILDING: Eaton Rapids Public Schools
DATE OF AVAILABILITY: August 2026
SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with professional development, training and integrated
implementation support for literacy assessment, curriculum, and instructional practices within a Multi-tiered
System of Support (MTSS). This position will focus on serving the pre-school and elementary school levels.
In the course of achieving these outcomes, the person in this position will work under the supervision of the
Curriculum Director.
Salary is based on level of education and verified experience. Salary, work schedule, and fringes are in accord
with the teacher bargaining unit master agreement (EREA Union Position).
CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS:
● Bachelor’s Degree with coursework in English Language Arts, Curriculum, Instruction, Differentiation and/or
Assessment or a closely related field required.
● Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certification required in K-5 ELA or BR endorsement.
● Additional Post-secondary coursework in Structured Literacy, LETRS, MAISA Literacy and Coaching
Essentials modules.
● Familiar with Michigan K-12 Literacy and Dyslexia law and its requirements.
● Demonstrated work history with education networks, teams, professional learning communities, and MTSS.
● Previous successful experiences in training, presenting information to groups and facilitating improvement
progress through documented coaching cycles.
● Know and apply adult learning principles.
● Able to work independently to accomplish work goals and objectives.
● Demonstrate specific skills and dispositions in order to engage teachers and build collaborative relationships.
● Able to communicate effectively with staff at all levels in an organization.
● Successful elementary classroom teaching experience.
● Experience with screening and diagnostic, observation, and formative assessment processes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Attend the K-3 Essential Instructional Practices Institute, Literacy Coaching Network Professional Learning
Opportunities, Coaching Intensives, Quarterly Meetings, and Monthly Meetings to support their learning
around the Essentials.
● Use the Coaching Modules and the K-3 Essential Instructional Practices modules to support their learning
around the Essentials.
● Assessment Literacy
● Majority of time working with teachers to improve teacher practice and student learning.
● Employ a core set of coaching activities that are predictors of student literacy growth at one or more grade
levels.
● Serve as an integral member of literacy leadership teams at the school and district level.
● Participate in Tier 2-3 intervention planning.
● Document coaching activities and create a coaching impact story per grant guidelines.
