Job Description

Opportunity: This is a student 20 hours-per-week commitment for Summer 2026. Applicants must have excellent communication and administrative skills, enjoy working on a team, and engaging with the public. Hours are Monday-Friday, between the hours of 9:00am - 4:00pm and special events as needed. Student workers will report directly to and assist the Office Manager and Archivist.


Eligibility: Applicants must be Wheaton College, IL degree-seeking students that have read, enjoy, and have basic knowledge of the 7 Wade Authors. Experience with the following is helpful, and training will be provided:

  • Retail, register, library use, and customer service
  • Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Accurate typing skills
  • JotForm, MailChimp, Canva, or Adobe is a plus

Welcome Desk and Bookshop Duties:

  • Greeting guests and customers, giving tours, and assisting with questions
  • Completing sales using the Clover POS/OJS systems and register
  • Tracking, fulfilling, and mailing phone and email orders
  • Tracking, lifting, organizing, packaging, and, and tidying shelving inventory
  • Updating sales signage, labels, and stickers
  • This job may involve lifting books or book boxes up to 25 pounds.
  • Assisting at Wade Center evening and weekend events and posting signage around campus
  • Assisting with large mailings and campus post office pick-up/drop-off
  • Responding to and forwarding phone calls and emails
  • Assisting with daily administrative task checklist and data entry
  • Providing front desk coverage during staff breaks and vacations
  • Other tasks as assigned

Archival Clerk Duties:

  • Greeting visitors and researchers during normal hours and special events, giving tours, and assisting with questions
  • Data entry, organization, and description of collections
  • Assistance with archival processing work, and special projects, as needed
  • Providing desk coverage during staff breaks and vacations
  • Other tasks assigned
