    Job Description: The Assistant Principal of Curriculum & Instruction oversees the development of curriculum and instructional programs to ensure consistency with Illinois learning standards, college readiness standards, and Board of Education policies. This role provides leadership in promoting high academic standards and expectations for learning while supervising department leadership and instructional staff. The Assistant Principal is a key member of the building leadership team, responsible for instructional leadership, staff evaluation, and the coordination of academic assessments and professional development.

     

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Supervision and Coordination
      • Provides instructional leadership and supervises Department Chairs.
      • Develops and maintains the annual evaluation schedule for certified and non-certified personnel in accordance with the District's evaluation plan.
      • Supervises instructional coaches, interventionists and English Learners programming.
      • Oversees the Information & Learning Center and evaluates assigned staff.
      • Coordinates the placement of student teachers at the building level.
      • Assists the Principal in supervising and evaluating licensed and non-licensed personnel.

     

    • Program Administration
      • Develops, implements, and manages the building Master Schedule to ensure optimal student placement and resource allocation.
      • Plans, coordinates, organizes, and communicates all aspects of standardized testing (PreACT 8/9, PSAT/NMSQT, PreACT 9, PSAT 10 Secure, ACT, Advanced Placement, NWEA, STAR, etc.)
      • Serves as the building AP and Testing Coordinator.
      • Oversees the ACT prep program and dual credit programming opportunities.
      • Oversees Cum Laude process.
      • Maintains all academic and course offering information on the District website.
      • Coordinates with feeder schools for articulation and administration of standardized assessments.

     

    • Leadership and Collaboration
      • Serves as a member of the building leadership team.
      • Leads the Student Achievement Committee in alignment with the District and building visions.
      • Assists with the District curriculum review cycle and summer curriculum development.
      • Coordinates mentoring programs with building lead mentors.
      • Coordinates with mentoring programs, instructional coaches, association, building leadership and assists with New Staff Orientation.
      • Coordinates with AP bootcamp with lead AP Bootcamp leads.
      • Oversees resource and textbook adoption procedures for District recommendations.

     

    • Assessment and Improvement:
      • Assess staff needs and monitor professional development opportunities and budgets.
      • Implements the District's evaluation plan for licensed staff.
      • Prepares a wide variety of reports, documents, and correspondences of a confidential and non-confidential nature for the purpose of documenting activities, providing written reference, and/or conveying information (e.g. Professional Development, Cum Laude Program, English Language Learner Support, Reading and Math/Executive Functioning Intervention Support, Master Schedule, New Staff Orientation, Assessments, etc.)
      • Maintains, extracts, processes, and analyzes a wide variety of data (e.g. grades, attendances, testing results, Infinite Campus data, etc.) for the purposes of reporting patterns, progress, and results

     

    • Additional Duties:
      • Assists, as assigned, with the supervision of student activities, including, but not limited to, athletic activities, co-curricular activities, and school dances.
      • Assists the principal in supervising and evaluating certified and non-certified personnel.
      • Assists with the evaluation of curricular aligned student activities.
      • Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
