    Elementary Principal (Leadership Development Program)

     

    Position Summary

    UME Preparatory Academy is seeking a highly motivated and high-performing educational leader to join our Elementary Principal Leadership Development Program. This role is designed to prepare a future campus principal through intensive, hands-on leadership training. The selected candidate will serve in a developmental leadership capacity during the first semester, working closely with campus and network leadership. Upon successful completion of the first semester, the candidate will transition into the Elementary Principal role beginning second semester.

    This position is ideal for an aspiring or emerging leader who is ready to step into full campus leadership and drive academic excellence, staff development, and student achievement.

    Program Structure

    • Semester 1 (Leadership Development Phase):
      • Shadow and support the current Principal
      • Lead targeted campus initiatives and projects
      • Participate in coaching, feedback cycles, and leadership training
      • Gain experience in instruction, operations, culture, and compliance
    • Semester 2 (Principal Placement):
      • Transition into the Elementary Principal role
      • Assume full campus leadership responsibilities
      • Lead instructional programming, staff management, and campus operations 

    Key Responsibilities (Development Phase)

    • Support instructional leadership, including PLCs and data-driven instruction
    • Assist with teacher coaching, observations, and feedback cycles
    • Analyze student performance data and support intervention planning
    • Participating in campus discipline and culture systems
    • Support campus operations, compliance, and daily procedures
    • Engage with families and the school community
    • Lead assigned leadership projects aligned to campus goals 

    Key Responsibilities (Principal Role � Second Semester)

    • Provide overall leadership and management of the elementary campus
    • Drive student achievement through strong instructional systems
    • Hire, develop, coach, and evaluate staff
    • Establish and maintain a positive campus culture and climate
    • Ensure compliance with all state, local, and organizational requirements
    • Manage campus operations, scheduling, and budgeting in collaboration with leadership
    • Build strong relationships with students, staff, and families 

    Qualifications

    • Master's degree in educational leadership or a related field (strongly preferred)
    • Valid Texas Principal Certification (or actively pursuing and eligible by second semester) (strongly preferred)
    • Minimum of 3�5 years of successful classroom teaching experience
    • Demonstrated leadership experience (e.g., team leader, department chair, instructional coach)
    • Strong instructional knowledge and data analysis skills  
    • Proven ability to lead adults and influence outcomes
    • Commitment to student achievement and organizational excellence 

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Prior assistant principal or instructional leadership experience
    • Experience in a high-performing or data-driven school environment
    • Strong background in elementary instruction
