The Dragon Shield story began in 1999, in the backroom of a Danish gaming store with a gamer who knew card game accessories could be better, and for over 20 years, Dragon Shield has been the market leader and standard bearer in high-quality sleeves. In 2024, we celebrated our 25th anniversary, but one thing has always remained the same: We are still gamers, and that is reflected in everything we do.
We are seeking a Senior Manager, Brand Voice, to capture the tone of voice for Dragon Shield across all key points of communication with consumers and partners. This role blends hands-on writing, editorial leadership, and brand strategy. You will define and protect the Dragon Shield voice, write and edit high-impact copy, and guide teams to deliver clear, confident, player-first language across marketing, product, packaging, website, trade merchandising, and internal communications.
In addition to a primary focus on Dragon Shield, this role will work with the Director of Global Communications for Collectivus on special projects across the broader company portfolio of brands.
Key Responsibilities:
Brand Voice Ownership & Strategy
- Own and set the standard for Dragon Shield’s brand voice across all channels, including marketing, product, packaging, web, social, and internal communications
- Turn brand strategy, positioning, and values into clear, usable voice principles and messaging frameworks
- Develop, maintain, and evolve brand voice guidelines and tone systems as the brand grows with new consumers around the world.
- Ensure our voice speaks to players with confidence and respect—whether they’re sleeving their first deck or competing at the highest level
Writing & Editorial Excellence
- Write and edit high-impact copy for product launches, campaigns, brand storytelling, and major announcements
- Set the quality bar through hands-on writing, sharp editing, and thoughtful, direct feedback
- Bring clarity, confidence, and personality to technical or product-driven content
- Further the rich lore of the Dragon Shield brand, extending storytelling into brand and product communications
Creative & Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner closely with Brand, Creative, Product, and Marketing teams to shape cohesive narratives
- Serve as a trusted voice in creative reviews, sharpening ideas without over-policing creativity
- Influence stakeholders with clear points of view grounded in brand principles and player insight
- Work with key licensed and charitable partners to tell the story of collaboration between Dragon Shield and other organizations
Quality & Consistency at Scale
- Review and audit copy across channels to ensure consistency, clarity, and quality
- Build scalable processes for copy development, review, and approvals
- Balance speed and craft in a fast-moving, product-driven environment without compromising voice integrity
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in brand voice, copywriting, or content strategy, including senior or leadership roles
- Proven ability to define, own, and scale a brand voice across multiple channels
- Exceptional writing and editing skills, with experience creating voice guidelines and messaging frameworks
- Strong cross-functional collaboration skills and experience influencing creative and product stakeholders
- Ability to bring clarity and personality to technical or product-driven content
- Experience within gaming, tabletop, or player-focused consumer brands is a plus
- Familiarity with both owned and licensed brands, with the ability to adapt communications accordingly.
