Description
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in planning, organizing, and implementing recreational and therapeutic activities tailored to residents with dementia
- Foster resident engagement by encouraging participation in activities aligned with individual interests and abilities
- Transport and assist residents to and from activities as needed
- Develop familiarity with residents’ backgrounds, preferences, and needs
- Create and maintain monthly activity calendars and newsletters
- Maintain accurate attendance records and resident documentation (photo releases, family contacts, etc.)
- Coordinate special events, community programs, and volunteer initiatives
- Collaborate with Culinary Services for events involving food or refreshments
- Communicate upcoming events to all departments in a timely manner
- Encourage family, staff, volunteer, and community involvement
- Attend community seminars and educational programs as required
- Ensure compliance with Department of Health regulations
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Memory Care or Administration
Requirements
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Experience in assisted living or memory care preferred
- Strong communication skills; must be able to read, write, and speak English effectively
- Creative, self-motivated, and organized
- Proficient in basic computer skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including responding during emergencies when needed
- Demonstrated ability to relate compassionately and effectively with seniors
- Patience, courtesy, professionalism, and integrity
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with residents, families, staff, and visitors
- Commitment to confidentiality and ethical conduct
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and move throughout the community for extended periods
- Ability to assist residents with mobility needs during activities and events
- Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry light to moderate objects (e.g., activity supplies, equipment)
- Visual and auditory ability sufficient to safely engage residents and participate in activities
Non-Physical (Cognitive & Emotional) Requirements
- Ability to maintain focus, organization, and attention to detail
- Emotional resilience and patience when working with residents with cognitive impairment
- Ability to follow instructions, adapt to changing situations, and prioritize tasks
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills in resident-focused environments
Summary

Under the direction of the Director of Memory Care, this role assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing meaningful recreational and social programs that enhance quality of life for residents living with dementia.
