Job Summary

The Senior Manager, Facility Operations serves as a critical leadership role within Spectrum Center, responsible for executing operational strategy while bridging coordination between Spectrum Center (CRVA/City of Charlotte) and Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE).


This position ensures excellence in event execution, NBA compliance, court and seating presentation, and arena readiness, while driving operational planning, financial accountability, and cross-organizational alignment.

 

Job Responsibilities 

 

  1. Essential Job Duties
    • Lead day-to-day execution of facility operations across NBA games, concerts, and special events.
    • Serve as the primary interface for facility operations-related issues and requests between Spectrum Center (CRVA/City of Charlotte) and Hornets Sports & Entertainment (HSE), with the ability to tactfully escalate matters through both organizations.
    • Ensure seamless coordination of arena conversions and maintain elite presentation standards.
    • Oversee NBA compliance and team-facing operational requirements.
    • Lead facility operations activities and event planning up to two quarters out.
    • Oversee financial reconciliation and event cost tracking.
    • Assist in budget preparation, budget management and invoice submission.
    • Directly oversee Manager, Facility Operations and Conversion Manager.
    • Serve as Manager on Duty (MOD) for events.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NBA, CRVA, CFD and local safety regulations.
    • Ensures that procedures and programs are installed and carried out to maintain the facility and equipment is in the best condition possible.
    • Oversee contracted janitorial contract to ensure cleanliness standards are maintained.
    • Assists in the oversight of inventory of equipment at Spectrum Center.
    • Foster and encourage an environment of innovation within the Facility Operations department to leverage all technology available and improve efficiency and quality assurance.
    • Takes an active role in industry associations and collaborates with various business groups on any pertinent operational changes or improvements that should be considered. 
    • May perform other duties as required.

Scope of Responsibility

  • This job is responsible for budgetary analysis, preparation, and review for both the Spectrum Center operations
  • This job will have periodic access to confidential data including wages and salaries, company records and/or minutes, customer quotes, product costs, and company plans, designs, and/or programs.

 

Supervisory Responsibility

  • Manages two department Managers, Conversions and Operations Manager across three shifts who are responsible for the direction and execution of venue operations, program execution, supply, equipment, and contract management that affects the outcome of events at the Spectrum Center
  • Supervises approximately eight non-exempt full-time employees as well as part-time and event labor. Is responsible for the performance, coordination, and overall evaluation of this unit and its employees. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; and five to seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience where at least two years of prior experience included personnel management. 
  • Arena or stadium experience is required.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; the ability to learn and operate new software programs; operate a Two-way radio.

 

Physical Demands

  • The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. 
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use their hands to handle objects, and communicate clearly.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand and walk long distances throughout the venue.

 

Work Environment

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be loud, depending on the event within the facility.


Travel Required

  • This job has limited travel requirements.
