Job Description

We are seeking a Hardware Systems Engineer with strong experience in server infrastructure and Foreign Military Sales deployments. This role is responsible for designing, installing, and supporting server hardware systems in both domestic and foreign partner environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on expertise in power systems, server components, networking hardware, and infrastructure integration, along with the ability to develop detailed technical documentation and coordinate with vendors.


Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Lead installation, configuration, and sustainment of server infrastructure in domestic and international environments
  • Support deployment activities in foreign partner nations, including on-site system setup and integration
  • Design and validate power requirements for Cybersecurity and C2 systems, including load calculations and redundancy planning
  • Install and integrate server hardware, including racks, cabling, and supporting infrastructure
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including:
    • Power calculations and load analysis
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Asset tracking and inventory
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure hardware compatibility and system interoperability
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, power, and connectivity issues during installation and operations
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications

 

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • 3–8+ years of experience in server hardware engineering, infrastructure deployment, or related field
  • Experience installing and supporting server systems in enterprise or field environments
  • Ability to travel internationally (up to 25%)

 

Technical Requirements

Server Infrastructure & Components

  • Strong understanding of server hardware, including:
    • Power supplies (redundant systems)
    • Memory (RAM configurations and compatibility)
    • Storage devices (HDD/SSD, RAID configurations)
    • KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) connectivity and remote management systems

 

Power Systems

  • Working knowledge of:
    • Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS)
    • Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
    • Electrical power panels
    • Building-level UPS and backup systems
  • Ability to perform power load calculations and ensure proper circuit sizing and redundancy

 

Networking Hardware

  • Familiarity with network devices and components, including:
    • Switches, routers, and associated power supplies
    • Network interface modules and expansion cards
    • Copper vs. fiber optic cabling, connectors, and transceivers

 

Storage Systems

  • Experience with Network Attached Storage (NAS), including:
    • Drive configurations and redundancy
    • Power supply considerations
    • Network connectivity and throughput requirements

 

Additional Skills

·       Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

·       Ability to work independently in dynamic, fast-paced environments

·       Effective communication skills, including coordination with international stakeholders

·       Experience working with vendors to evaluate and ensure compatibility between systems and components

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)

·       Experience supporting deployments in austere or overseas environments

·       Familiarity with data center design or edge computing infrastructure

·       Certifications (e.g., CompTIA Server+, Network+, or similar)
Clearance Requirements

The pay range for this role is: $105,000-120,000 USD per year (San Diego, CA)
