About the Role:

The States of Guernsey are looking for a Senior Orthopaedic Practitioner to join the Outpatients Department based at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital.

The post holder has management responsibility for staff within the plaster room on a daily basis, prioritising the workload and delegating appropriately under the guidance of the Outpatient Manager.

The post holder is responsible for delivery of the casting/splinting service provision across a wide and varied patient group via referral, throughout HSC and its peripherals.

Will be responsible for the skilled application and removal of casts and braces, including complex applications in Theatre i.e. Scoliosis jackets, hip spicas.

Provide optimum quality of care to patients, offering support to the MDT and required to take management responsibility for the plaster room on each shift.

To practice in accordance with HSC standards and statutory requirements, and operate within the boundaries of the role and assessed competencies.

Job Description

This role comes with a competitive salary, progressive annual leave and entitlement to a pension scheme. We will also consider previous service in a substantive post in the NHS or Local Authority towards entitlement to annual leave, maternity leave and sick pay.    

 

Annual Bonus: Staff who are in post on 31 January will receive a lump sum payment every February. 

 

Employment Permit: This role offers eligible off-Island candidates an 8-year Long Term Employment Permit, subject to UK and Guernsey Immigration Clearance where applicable. This permit enables candidates to bring immediate family members with them who will be permitted to work on the Island in any sector. There are also good schools on Island for those candidates looking to bring their families with them.

This will also be relevant for internal candidates already employed under an Employment Permit. 

 

Relocation: For candidates needing to relocate to the Bailiwick of Guernsey for the post, we offer a relocation package to help with the cost of moving over to the Island. This relocation package offers different solutions depending on an individual’s circumstances.
