Job Description
Position: Foundry Cleaning Room Lead
Location: This is an on-site located in Norwich, KS. 

Employment Type: Full-Time/Hourly – Night shift (7:00p – 5:30a - Sunday to Wednesday)
    
Role Overview

Farrar Corporation is looking for a skilled cleaning room lead.  The lead is responsible for overseeing all post-casting operations including shakeout, knock-off, shot blasting, inspection, and grinding. This role ensures Farrar castings meet all quality standards while maintaining safe, efficient, and consistent production. The cleaning room lead provides hands-on leadership, directs daily activities, and drives continuous improvement across cleaning room processes.



Responsibilities
  • Lead and direct cleaning room personnel across all operations including shakeout, knockoff, shot blasting, inspection and grinding
  • Coordinate daily workflow to meet production schedules and shipping requirements
  • Ensure all castings meet quality specifications before release to next operations or shipment
  • Train, coach, and develop team members on proper techniques, safety practices, and quality standards
  • Monitor productivity and identify opportunities to improve throughput and reduce bottlenecks
  • Maintain and enforce all safety standards, including PPE and equipment operation
  • Setup and adjust programs on Sinto Barinders
  • Ensure proper operation and basic maintenance of equipment including Hydraulic Wedges, Shot Blast machine, SNAG grinders, and Sinto Barinders
  • Troubleshoot process or equipment issues and escalate when necessary
  • Work closely with Production, Quality, and Engineering teams to:
    • Address casting defects
    • Implement corrective actions
    • Improve overall casting quality and consistency
  • Maintain organization and housekeeping standards in the cleaning room
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 3–5+ years of foundry experience, preferably in ductile iron
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of:
    • Grinding practices and standards
    • Shot blasting operations
    • Casting defects and inspection methods
    • Experience with automated grinding systems, including Sinto Barinders, strongly preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret work instructions, prints, and quality standards
