PURPOSE: To perform appropriate radiological procedures. To perform vision, hearing and spirometry.





ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

Performs tasks pertinent to age of patient (infancy to geriatric).



Produces high quality radiographs through application of proper technical factors on an individual patient basis; provides protection for the patient in accordance with prescribed safety standards.



Assures that the radiograph is of good quality before requesting the medical staff review of the film.



Maintains accurate inventory of X-ray supplies and equipment; maintains accurate inventory of vision and hearing and spirogram supplies and equipment; assists in the selection of division equipment and supplies.



Maintains current policy and procedures manual for the X-ray Department.



Assures that equipment is in good operating condition; does routine cleaning and maintenance or arranges to have necessary service done on a timely basis.



Notifies the Medical Director of any equipment problem or malfunction.



Maintains appropriate service logs.



Assures accessibility to patient images and reports to the medical staff.



Advises the Medical Director in matters relating to radiology services.



Oversees the checking of monthly “reading charges” from UVA and notes them in the log book.



Provides specific diagnostic testing as requested by the medical staff; uses available equipment as required, provides prompt results of testing to the provider and assists as requested in assuring necessary follow-up of abnormal test results.
