Duties

Perform repairs, overhaul, troubleshoot and testing of medical equipment and any peripheral devices.,Ensure equipment is compliant with the most stringent standard, manufacturer’s literature, or regulatory guidance.,Conduct preventive maintenance checks and services inspections of medical equipment.,Install general medical equipment, to include complex medical and peripheral devices.,Conduct testing to ensure operability, efficiency, and compliance with existing standards.,Ensure that hardware and software are functioning properly and that operating standards are met.,Review, evaluate, and fine tune components to achieve peak efficiency within the overall network.,Document services and research maintenance/accountability data in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes identifying medical equipment malfunctions and/or manufacturing defects to recommend solutions; coordinating with medical staff and/or medical equipment manufacturers to set up equipment and systems compliant with specifications; and testing medical equipment in current use to determine serviceability. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.

During the obligation period, the position may be filled on a temporary or permanent basis. The selected employee is required to sign an agreement acknowledging that (s)he is aware of the obligation and accepts the fact that (s)he may be displaced under reduction in force procedures at a later time. A temporary position is time limited and may be extended in one year increments to a maximum of three years and may be terminated at any time during the duration of the appointment.
