Job Description

About the Department

The Piedmont’s Kings Mountain State Park has miles of forested trails perfect for supreme Kings Mountain hiking, two fishing lakes, and sits adjacent to Kings Mountain National Military Park, one of many national park Revolutionary War sites. Local crowds flock to the park during regularly scheduled special events and for the abundance of hiking and equestrian trails. The park is an excellent place to come see the leaf changes in the fall.

Job Purpose and Duties:

Assists Park Manager and with the overall maintenance activities of Kings Mountain State Park to include upkeep and maintenance of grounds and facilities and the scheduling and supervision of assigned staff and projects.

1) Supervises assigned maintenance staff and other personnel.
2) Assists in the training of all maintenance or assigned personnel.
3) Inspects and maintains all the grounds equipment and related facilities.
4) Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies for grounds.
5) Requisitions of supplies, services, and equipment.
6) Have a general knowledge of your specific park’s natural/historical significance and the role each department plays in customer service.
7) Practice and promote teamwork within the State Park Service, throughout the agency and with external agency stakeholders. Represents office as an active member on agency teams assigned throughout the year.

Position Duties

High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years' experience in building and grounds maintenance.

Additional Requirements:

1) Position requires medium to heavy lifting, walking and standing on uneven terrain, crawling and working at heights. Exposure to weather conditions, cleaning agents, and other materials, tools and equipment used in maintaining park facilities and grounds. Must be able to work a flexible work schedule, including weekends and holidays.
2) Licensed or competent in electrical, plumbing and carpentry trades. Should be able to read and understand written procedures and directions, understand blueprints, and be able to write specifications for materials.
3) Must possess a valid S.C. driver license.

Other Qualifications

Actual Job Location: Kings Mountain State Park

Full-time, 40 hours per week rotating schedule including weekends and holidays.
