Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach
Knox College invites applications for the position of Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach, a full-time 12-month, benefits-eligible position reporting to the Head Women’s Soccer Coach. The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to student‑athlete development, academic success, and competitive performance while helping to elevate an NCAA Division III program built on accountability, growth, and competitive purpose.
The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach will play a vital role in advancing the mission and values of Prairie Fire Athletics by helping to build a competitive NCAA Division III program that develops student-athletes of character, fosters belonging and growth, and competes with purpose. This position contributes to a collaborative coaching staff focused on student-athlete development, academic success, and competitive excellence.

Responsibilities
The Assistant Women’s Soccer Coach is responsible for contributing to the success of the Knox College Women’s Soccer program, including but not limited to:
Assist in the development of the women’s soccer program by supporting a competitive, values‑based NCAA Division III team aligned with the mission and expectations of Prairie Fire Athletics.
Recruit and retain student‑athletes who demonstrate academic commitment, personal integrity, and competitive potential, while supporting enrollment goals in collaboration with Admissions.
Coach and mentor student‑athletes through the planning and execution of practices, training sessions, and competition preparation, emphasizing skill development, teamwork, and performance.
Support student‑athlete success and well‑being by fostering academic accountability, personal growth, leadership development, and a positive team culture.
Assist with program operations including team travel, scheduling, equipment, facilities coordination, camps, and game‑day activities.
Ensure compliance and professionalism by adhering to institutional, Midwest Conference, and NCAA rules and regulations, and by modeling ethical leadership and effective communication.
Promote and advance the program through alumni engagement, fundraising support, community outreach, and appropriate use of social media and other communication platforms.
In addition to the core coaching responsibilities outlined above, the Assistant Coach may be assigned Additional Assignments that extend beyond the primary coaching role. These supplemental administrative, leadership, or programmatic responsibilities are based on departmental needs and individual skill sets, are reviewed annually, and will be documented through a separate annual assignment letter or addendum outlining scope, duration, and any associated compensation or workload adjustment.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university
Proven ability to organize and implement practice plans.
Valid Driver's License
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and projects
An appreciation for a residential liberal arts education, respect for individual differences, openness to the values and opinions of others, and flexibility to adapt to constant change
Preferred Qualifications:
Collegiate soccer coaching experience
Collegiate recruiting experience
Previous experience maintaining soccer fields and/or equipment.
Experience with recruiting database Front Rush (or similar database)
Experience hosting collegiate soccer camps
Experience with social media and overall promotion of the athletics program
Summary Pay Range: Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience. Please note that pay is only one component of total compensation.
