JOB PURPOSE:
The Quality Engineer acts as the quality business partner for an assigned production cell, driving quality performance, food safety compliance and operational excellence. The role is responsible for leading continuous improvement, supporting innovation and change management, managing complaints related to the area, and ensuring sustainable implementation of HACCP, FSSC 22000, GMP and Ice Cream Management System (ICMS) standards.
The position also plays a key role in hygienic engineering improvements and digital quality transformation initiatives aligned with the company vision of moving from end-product inspection to predictive process control and no-touch quality systems. In addition, the role is expected to act as a culture ambassador, promoting strong quality and safety behaviours across the shopfloor through visible leadership and daily engagement.
WHAT WILL YOUR MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES BE
Cell Quality Partnership & Daily Operations
Act as the quality partner for the assigned production cell and provide day-to-day quality leadership
Ensure zero food safety incidents
Participate in daily operational meetings and performance reviews
Ensure effective implementation of GMP, hygiene, ICMS and quality standards on the shopfloor
Drive accountability and support a strong quality culture within the area
Promote safe working behaviours and actively support a strong health & safety culture through daily presence and intervention when needed
Continuous Improvement & Process Excellence
Lead defect, waste, rework and quality loss reduction initiatives
Drive root cause analysis and CAPA actions for recurring issues
Improve process capability, first-time-right performance and operational consistency
Use data and trends to identify opportunities and eliminate chronic losses
Support standardization and best practice deployment
Complaints & Consumer Quality
Lead complaint investigations related to the assigned cell
Coordinate cross-functional root cause analysis and corrective actions
Ensure robust recurrence prevention actions are implemented
Track complaint trends and proactively reduce consumer quality risks
Innovation & Change Management
Support new product launches, trials, reformulations and packaging changes
Conduct quality risk assessments for process or product changes
Ensure operational readiness before launch
Support successful handover from project phase to routine production
Food Safety & Management Systems
Support HACCP studies, validation and periodic reviews for assigned area
Ensure effective implementation of prerequisite programs and food safety controls
Support FSSC 22000 / ISO 22000 compliance activities
Support deployment, sustainment and continuous improvement of ICMS standards and ways of working within the assigned production cell
Participate in internal, external and customer audits
Drive timely closure of audit findings and system gaps
Hygienic Engineering
Identify hygienic design gaps in equipment, layout and utilities
Participate in new equipment and modification reviews from a hygienic design perspective
Drive improvements in cleanability, accessibility, zoning, drainage and material suitability
Work closely with Engineering to reduce contamination risks through design
Digital Quality & No-Touch Quality
Lead and support digital quality projects within the assigned cell
Drive initiatives shifting quality assurance from manual inspection to process control and prevention
Identify opportunities for sensors, automation, vision systems and predictive controls
Develop dashboards, trend monitoring tools and early warning systems
Support validation and implementation of new digital quality technologies
Reporting & Collaboration
Analyze trends and prepare weekly / monthly quality performance reports
Escalate risks and improvement opportunities proactively
Work closely with Production, Engineering, R&D, Supply Chain and other functions
Coach frontline teams on quality ownership, standards and safe behaviours
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related disciplines
At least 2 years of experience in Quality, Food Safety or Manufacturing within FMCG / food production
Experience in production environments with strong shopfloor interaction
Experience in problem solving, improvement projects and cross-functional teamwork
Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, management systems and continuous improvement principles
Experience with audits, complaints or process quality management is an advantage
Experience with digital tools, data analytics or automation projects is a plus
Good command of English
