About the Department

Do you enjoy helping others with events or planning? Stay organized and professional? Montgomery County Parks, Enterprise Division, is currently seeking energetic, fun, organized seasonal/intermittent applicants to fill our exciting positions at our Event Centers. Rockwood Manor Retreats & Events located Potomac, MD and the Lodge at Little Seneca Creek located in Boyds, MD. Follow the links below for details about each location: 


Work hours are flexible to include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays as noted below. These facilities are open year-round.   

Opportunities include:

Event Center Operations (Starting @ $15.45/hr)
Event Preparation/General Maintenance 
  • Assist with set up and tear down of tables and chairs for Park Event Centers.
  • Assist with general cleaning of facility.
  • Interpret and understand written diagrams of event space to ensure proper placement of tables and equipment requested by clients.
  • Take down and store equipment in a proper manner.
  • Assists with maintaining and repairing equipment and building as needed along with general facility and grounds cleaning.
Additional on-site training will be provided. Pay rate is based on experience and qualifications.

Event Center Host or Hostess (Starting @ $15.45/hr)
Our two different park venues are comprised of indoor and outdoor space including a Log Cabin and Manor House. Responsibilities include:
  • Opening and closing facility, as scheduled for private, business and social events (mostly weekend weddings and parties) and wedding rehearsals at Park Facilities.
  • Greeting guests and ensuring vendors and clients comply with facility rules and regulations.
  • Excellent customer service skills and present a professional appearance along with the ability to problem solve independently and communicate effectively.
Work hours include Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays with occasional weekday shifts available. Most weekend shifts are a minimum of 9-hours and may be as late as 1 am. Additional on-site training will be provided. Pay rate is based on experience and qualifications.

Event Center Reservations Assistant (Starting @ $15.45/hr)
  • Answering phones and emails, responding to client inquiries, scheduling appointments for client tours, conducting tours, processing contracts, and assisting with administrative paperwork.
  • Excellent customer service skills and present a professional appearance along with the ability to problem solve independently and communicate effectively.
  • Must be comfortable with working on a computer.
On-site training will be provided. Pay rate is based on experience and qualifications.

Minimum Qualifications

Event Center Operations:

  • Must be able to lift 30 pounds frequently and 5-10 pounds constantly.
  • Varied shifts are available to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Minimum age of 18.
Event Center Host or Hostess:
  • Varied shifts are available to include early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
  • Minimum age of 18.
Event Center Reservations Assistant:
  • Must be comfortable with working on a computer.
  • Typical weekday hours from 10am-4pm, and between 15-20 hours per week.
  • Varied hours on weekdays.
  • Minimum age of 18.

Other Qualifications

These positions are seasonal (part-time) and do not include benefits. Hourly wages are based on experience and qualifications.

All selected candidates must display excellent customer service skills. Some positions require First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications (training classes available). Candidates must attend in-house orientation.

Ongoing continued training and internal growth opportunities available.
