Adlai E. Stevenson High School (Lincolnshire, IL) is seeking a part-time (0.2 FTE) Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.

The part-time teacher will work with transition-aged students, staff, parents, and adult-service and community agencies to develop and implement an IEP, including transition goals and activities. Provide direct and consultative services to identified students with social language, social skills, and social-emotional needs.
Direct Services
Provide direct services for transition-aged students (18-22) in school and community settings.
Promote skills, confidence, and independence of the student through case management and interventions
Plan and implement direct, systematic, research-based instructional and behavioral practices in the classroom and the community
Utilize evidence-based practices to develop and deliver transition-aligned functional instruction (e.g., academic/adult literacy and math skills) that help students with disabilities successfully move from school to post-secondary school settings
Utilize evidence-based practices to develop and deliver functional, transition-related instruction (e.g., social skills training, vocational training, self-advocacy skills, disability awareness training, daily living skills, self-care, behavior regulation) that help students with disabilities successfully move from school to post-secondary school settings
Prepare students with disabilities for post-school education, employment, and independent living
Provide information to students regarding their roles/legal rights
Provide direct instruction in academic/adult literacy and math skills, interpersonal/social skills, self-determination/self-advocacy, emotional/behavioral regulation instruction, and transportation training in the classroom and community-based settings
Assist students with personal care needs required for daily living, such as physical support needs, hygiene/toileting (as needed), and safety
Consultation
Provide support, training, coaching, and evaluative feedback, along with skill development, to non-certified teaching staff. Help teaching assistants work to ensure best practice teaching strategies are carried out effectively in the community
Collaborate with colleagues and parents to share information and expertise to plan and implement effective student programs
Collaborate with and facilitate linkages between families and community agencies for education, employment, and independent living, including recreational opportunities
Assist in developing school and community partnerships. Foster student connectedness to their home and surrounding communities
Multi-Disciplinary Teaming
Participate in meetings (e.g., individualized education program, transition, reevaluation) with students and their families
Participate in the development and implementation of individual educational plans for identified students
Maintain appropriate records
Participate in the problem-solving process related to students and instruction

Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator's License (PEL) with LBSI endorsement. Preference will be given to candidates who also hold an ESL endorsement.
Previous experience working with transition-aged (18-21) students or LBS-II transition specialist preferred. Experience working with students with intellectual disabilities and emotional disabilities. Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively
