For over 100 years, YMCA Camp Cormorant has offered spirit, tradition, leadership, and exceptional facilities to campers. Founded in 1903, Camp Cormorant is one of the oldest overnight camps in the entire nation. The camp is nestled on 80 acres of wooded property with an extensive beachfront on Big Cormorant Lake. We are located approximately six miles south of Lake Park, MN, in the heart of Minnesota lakes country. No day at camp is just a typical day. Under the supervision of the Camp Coordinator, this position will be responsible for assisting the Camp Coordinator in implementing programs, scheduling activities, organizing events, and managing staff.
Program & Camp Operations
Assist the Camp Coordinator in implementing camp programs and daily schedules
Coordinate all camp activities, camp information nights, and promotional events
Lead campfire programs, evening activities, and supervise morning activities
Oversee the camp check-in/check-out process and daily camp operations
Greet campers and parents upon arrival and assist with camper registration
Assist with camp store schedules and operations
Conduct daily cabin checks and assist with cabin assignments and activities
Staff Supervision & Development
Supervise Junior Counselors and Counselors in Training (CITs)
Assist in developing and implementing uniform staff training and development
Assist with the coordination and maintenance of staff schedules
Meet weekly with staff and serve as a resource through positive, open communication
Model positive attitude, professionalism, and appropriate behavior at all times
Safety & Compliance
Ensure all American Camping Association (ACA) standards are followed
Enforce all camp rules, policies, and safety and health procedures
Administrative & Leadership Duties
Attend meetings and actively participate in all camp activities
Assist the Camp Coordinator with planning, organization, and problem-solving
Complete end-of-season evaluations and reports as required
Requirements
2026 Camp Dates: This is a seasonal position. Pay for this position is $500 per week. Start date is flexible, but no later than May 25, 2026. Staff training begins Friday, May 29, and goes through June 5. Camp Sessions are Sunday, June 7, through Friday, August 14. Must be available for the entire summer season. This position includes free room and board and is expected to live on site during the camp season.
Required Experience/Qualifications:
1. At least 21 years old
2. 2 years of experience working with youth
3. CPR/First Aid Certification for Adult, Child and Infant
No personal animals allowed on Camp premises.
