About the Department
The Village of Germantown Department of Public Works is seeking motivated individuals to join our team as Summer Seasonal Workers. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals on summer break, college students, or anyone who enjoys working outdoors and being part of a hardworking, supportive crew.
Position DetailsSchedule: Monday through Friday
Hours: 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (40 hours per week)
Duration: Seasonal summer employment
Position Duties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Mowing and maintaining grass areas in parks, ball fields, medians, and other public spaces using commercial riding mowers and push mowers.
Preparing and maintaining ball diamonds, athletic fields, and recreational areas.
Performing string trimming, edging, and general grounds maintenance.
Assisting with landscaping activities, including planting, watering, and maintaining flowers, trees, shrubs, and landscaped areas.
Collecting leaves, brush, trash, and debris to maintain clean and safe public spaces.
Cleaning and performing light janitorial maintenance in public buildings, park shelters, restrooms, and related facilities.
Assisting with minor maintenance and repairs to public property, tools, and equipment.
Operating light equipment and hand tools safely and responsibly.
Supporting Department of Public Works staff with a variety of seasonal projects and assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be at least 16 years of age.
Must possess a valid WI driver's license.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
Reliable attendance and punctuality required
Prior landscaping or maintenance experience is helpful but not required
Other Qualifications
Successful candidates should demonstrate the following qualifications and abilities.
Familiarity with general labor, groundskeeping, or basic maintenance activities.
Understanding of workplace safety and the ability to follow established safety guidelines and procedures
ability to complete tasks independently while also contributiong effectively as part of a team.
Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to follow directions and share information clearly.
Ability to perform work outdoors in a variety of weather and environmental conditions.
Physical capability to carry out job duties such as lifting, bending, climbing, walking for extended periods, and safely operationg tools and equipment, with or witout reasonable accommodations.
This position requires physical activity including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and operating equipment. Employees must be able to lift and carry items up to approximately 50 pounds with or without reasonable accommodation.
