Job Description

Warehouse Specialist  – Administrative Division
(Pay: $16.71 - $26.73 / hour)

The purpose of this classification, under direct supervision, ships, receives, stores, and issues materials, supplies, tools, and equipment for the Department of Public Utilities.

Essential Functions:

  • Issues parts, tools, supplies, orders, or other items;        
  • Processes inventory for shipping;
  • Processes inventory at receiving;
  • Shelves and stores materials, equipment, and supplies; 
  • Maintains stock; ensures proper shelving of inventory;   
  • Conducts physical inventory count;
  • Maintains safety and cleanliness of warehouse;
  • Processes a variety of documentation associated with department/division operations, within designated timeframes and per established procedures;
  • Operates a personal computer to enter, retrieve, review or modify data;
  • Utilizes maintenance, work order, or department-specific software;
  • Operates or uses various equipment and supplies in order to complete work assignments;
  • Communicates with supervisor, other employees, vendors and other individuals as needed;
  • May be required to work after normal business hours, weekends, holidays, Standby Duty or be called out as needed;
  • Performs other related duties as required.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED required; supplemented one year of work experience that shows an ability to maintain steady employment in any field; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
  •  Must reside within a radius of Orangeburg, SC that allows for a 30-minute maximum response to call outs and emergencies.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver’s license.
  • Must complete Forklift Driver certification within first 3 months in position.
