About the Role
Total Wine & More is seeking a Software Engineer, Back-End to join our Technology team in our Bethesda, MD office. The Software Engineer, Back-End will design and develop high-performance, scalable, and reusable UI components. Software Engineer will work in Agile environment collaborating w/ Product Owners, QA Engineers + other developers to share coding best practices, working to ensure standardized techniques across the development team. Curiosity and a customer-centric mindset are key, as many features will be tested and refined through real-world use. You will continually seek opportunities to enhance usability, security, and performance across our applications. This position reports to the Director of Software Engineering Technology.
You will
- Develop software applications based on functional requirements + technical specifications following applications through to implementation
- Work with Microsoft technologies including .NET, SQL Server + Azure/Google cloud.
- Work with a variety of teams across Technology department to evaluate, estimate, develop + create high impact products on schedule.
- Implement applications + services using Azure, .NET/C#, Microsoft SQL Server + publisher/subscriber messaging systems.
- Consult w/ end-user to prototype, refine, test + debug solutions.
- Contribute to the design and architecture of technical solutions.
- May undergo background checks incl drug screening.
You will come with
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field preferred or equivalent years of experience in Microsoft .NET framework, .NET Core, and C#.
- 1-4 years experience with React/Redux, especially function components capitalizing on hooks preferred
- Proficiency with JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS3.
- Experience with server-side rendering, RESTful APIs, microservices, and cloud-native environments.
- Strong understanding of design patterns and web front-end architecture.
- Familiarity with relational and NoSQL database technologies, particularly Microsoft SQL Server.
- Knowledge of CI/CD, test automation, and testing frameworks like Jest, Gherkin, and Postman.

The exempt compensation range for this position is $126,090 – 137,600 annually. Total Wine & More considers several factors when establishing compensation.
