    Position Overview

    Grosse Pointe's Early On program is seeking a qualified School Social Worker to support infants and toddlers (ages 0-3) and their families. This role focuses on evaluation, early intervention services, and family-centered support delivered in natural environments such as homes and community settings.

    • Experience conducting evaluations and assessments for children ages 0-3
    • Experience supporting families using a coaching model

     

     Education and Experience

    • Master's Degree in Social Work
    • Full or limited licensure, and temporary or full approval as a School Social Worker
    • Coursework and/or significant experience in early childhood or early intervention
    • Experience conducting evaluations and re-evaluations for children suspected of or identified with disabilities, in accordance with MARSE
    • Ability to interpret evaluation data and collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
    • Demonstrated ability to lead and facilitate meetings and work collaboratively with team members

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Conducting special education evaluations in compliance with family and student rights
    • Maintaining compliance with Part C timelines, documentation, and procedural requirements
    • Collaborating with team members to address the needs of children, families, and the community
    • Supporting families in promoting their child's development through culturally responsive practices
    • Delivering services that build on individual and family strengths
    • Maintaining knowledge of and adhering to federal and state laws, including those related to special education, child welfare, mental health, confidentiality, and family rights
    • Managing time and workload effectively to meet all responsibilities
    • Utilizing research-based practices and technology to support children, families, and teams

    Working Conditions

    • The Early On program serves children and families in Grosse Pointe, Hamtramck, Harper Woods, and Highland Park
    • This is a year-round position, including:
      • Approximately 5 weeks of work during the traditional summer break
      • 5 additional weeks off during the school year
    • Services are provided in natural environments, including homes and community settings
