    The Classical Academy is looking for an experienced Head Cheer coach.  Applicant should be knowledgeable in coaching/teaching the fundamentals of cheer to high school age students.  Familiarity of CHSAA bylaws is encouraged along with familiarity of the TCA culture.

    GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
    Assistant to the Activities Director in developing all aspects of a specific sport program.

    ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:
    Reports to the Activities Director

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

    • Serves as a middle school, freshman, junior varsity, or varsity assistant coach and is classified as an assistant to the Activities Director
    • Assumes the responsibilities for the development of the specific team within the total program, under the direction of the Activities Director
    • Attends all coaches' meetings called by the Activities Director
    • Carries out assignments given by the Activities Director

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION:
    High school diploma or GED equivalent required

    Undergraduate degree preferred

    EXPERIENCE:
    Experience as a coach at the secondary level is preferred.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Ability to represent the school community with high character when interacting with a variety of public groups, i.e. leagues, organizations, schools, and media
    • Ability to communicate with all activities staff, as well as parents, students, other staff members, and visitors to the school
    • Demonstrated knowledge of the sport(s) assigned
    • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • Work is generally performed in the practice area and/or event area
    • Work hours may vary depending on the needs of the activities office and practice needs, and may include days, evenings, and weekends

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
    The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position. They are included for informational purposes and are not all inclusive.

    • Typical demands require the employee to:
      • Spend majority of work time standing and walking while performing job duties
      • Frequently lift burdens weighing up to 30 lbs. and occasionally push/pull burdens weighing up to 100 lbs.
      • Frequently use eye, hand, and finger coordination to enable the use of athletic equipment, other equipment, and writing utensils

    PERA defined benefit contribution retirement plan included. This position is stipend-based and therefore does not include benefits.
