Pontchartrain Animal Hospital is seeking a Kennel Assistant to join our team! Our kennel team plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our patients, clients, and staff.

In this position, you�ll primarily support the hospital through cleaning, sanitation, and patient care duties, ensuring kennels, treatment areas, and common spaces remain spotless, organized, and well stocked. This role is perfect for someone who is self-driven, detail-oriented, enjoys staying busy, and takes pride in creating a welcoming environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with prior animal care experience who are excited to continue growing in the animal care field. We value reliability, a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic.

Schedule

Weekend Position Only:

  • Saturday: 7:45 a.m. � 12:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. � until duties are complete
  • Sunday: 7:00 a.m. � until duties are complete and 6:00 p.m. � until duties are complete

Full-time benefits and compensation**:

  • Compensation: $12-14 per hour, for each hour worked*

Minimum Qualifications & Desired Skill Set

� Previous kennel, animal care, or veterinary experience preferred

� Comfortable working around dogs and cats of all sizes and temperaments

� Strong attention to detail, especially with cleaning and sanitation

� Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

� Dependable, organized, and team-oriented

� Comfortable administering medications (training available where appropriate)

� Reliable, punctual, and committed to patient care

Key Responsibilities

� Daily care of boarding canine and feline patients, including feeding, walking, cleaning, and medicating

� Maintaining cleanliness and proper sanitation of kennels and hospital areas

� Safe patient handling and restraint

� Monitoring pets for signs of illness, stress, or discomfort

� Assisting technicians and veterinarians as needed

� Accurate record-keeping and task management (electronic records transitioning soon)

� Providing compassionate, attentive care to every patient
